John 14.6

6 Jesus said to him: “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.

This is one of those well-known verses, and it is a vital statement that shows the whole of humanity how to get to God, the Father.

There is deep seated in mankind the desire to know God. Even the atheist has a desire to know more about what he considers to be beyond himself.

Many philosophies have been worked out in an attempt to find the pathway to God.

Many religions have also been devised to show people how to reach God and attain some meaning in this life.

In every attempt to reach God mankind will fail if they ignore these words of Jesus.

There are those who say that all religions will lead people to find God. This could not be further from the truth. Whilst we must recognise and respect that everyone has the right to try and find their own way to God, at the same time we must proclaim that Jesus has shown us what that way is.

There may be those within the church who have not yet discovered the way to the Father. There are many who state that it is through our good works that we gain entry into Heaven. Good works are important and we must not neglect them. However, they will not win us salvation. Our good works will hopefully lead others to glorify our Father in Heaven, but they will not gain for us eternal salvation.

Going to church will not bring us to the Father. Hopefully in church people will hear about how to come to the Father.

We do good works because we have been saved by the grace of God, not to gain the grace of God.

In this verse Jesus is very clear on how to come to the Father, and it is through Him.

What Jesus said is not complicated. We do not need a degree to understand what He said.

All we need is ears that hear and believe what He said, that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.

Let us make sure that we respond to what He says, and believe in Him wholeheartedly.
